Peace Like A River

It was a wide river, mistakable for a lake or even an ocean unless you'd been wading and knew its current. Somehow I'd crossed it... Now I saw the stream regrouped below, flowing on through what might've been vineyards, pastures, orhards... It flowed between and alongside the rivers of people; from here it was no more than a silver wire winding toward the city. - Leif Enger, Peace Like A River

Had a dentist appt this morning to get a little filling. They gassed me. I wonder what it is. It didn't put me all the way under, and I still felt like I was reasonably conscious, but I could feel its effects. It must numb you enough so that the drilling isn't too bad. I did feel a twinge here and there, but survived.

Had orchestra practice last night. We'll play Dec 14. Then sounds like on the 21st there will be a large music element in the service, with all of the different parts of the music ministry, so we'll probably then as well.

Sounds like Rhonda might go to a movie tonight. I will ride herd on the kids.

Hanna has seemed heavier lately, more solid. You pick her up and she is a chunk. John still is a little wiry.

I had breakfast at the kitchen table with the kids before leaving this morning. A little chickadee or something was hopping around in the bush right outside the window. Hanna thought that was pretty neat.
