Peace Like A River

It was a wide river, mistakable for a lake or even an ocean unless you'd been wading and knew its current. Somehow I'd crossed it... Now I saw the stream regrouped below, flowing on through what might've been vineyards, pastures, orhards... It flowed between and alongside the rivers of people; from here it was no more than a silver wire winding toward the city. - Leif Enger, Peace Like A River

Another longish drive in this morning, even though the roads on the freeway were just fine. Hmmm. The official amount of snow is over 10 inches, the largest December snowfall in about 20 years I heard. I don't think we got quite that much at the house. The snow came from the SW to the NE, with the larger amounts the further to the SE you go. So, just past Albertville, and St. Cloud, they got almost no snow up there, and that's not too far away. I did the driveway twice last night, and it needs it again today.

John doesn't have a fever anymore, but he's had a bit of a cough the last day or two. Last night he woke up twice between 10 and 11 or so, I think his coughing woke him up. He cried a bit, but went back to sleep. The second time I had gone to get him a Benadryl and some water, but he was asleep again by the time I got back.

Hanna has been saying "Mommy" and "Daddy" very clearly lately. Sometimes she'll say it just to say it. I think she likes saying it because she gets a response!

When I dropped the kids off this morning, John said something about playing Jack and Jill. I guess he and Julie have been doing something. Maybe tumbling down the hill or something.

Got a call from another deacon that a single mother had contacted the church about needing help with a move. He asked if I could help out on Saturday morning with that, so will probably do that.
