Peace Like A River

It was a wide river, mistakable for a lake or even an ocean unless you'd been wading and knew its current. Somehow I'd crossed it... Now I saw the stream regrouped below, flowing on through what might've been vineyards, pastures, orhards... It flowed between and alongside the rivers of people; from here it was no more than a silver wire winding toward the city. - Leif Enger, Peace Like A River

Both John and Hanna have the snifflys, although John sounded a bit worse this morning. John woke up in the night again crying, not sure what was bothering him. Maybe he was just cold or not feeling well?

This morning while Rhonda was getting Hanna dressed, I was holding John and looking out Hanna's window, and there were a couple of squirrels chasing around the backyard, and John said "Squirrels like acorns." Ha. His vocabulary and grammer have sure come a long ways.

I picked up the kids from Sue's house yesterday. Boy, Sue has sure been a godsend. She does so much with them. Sue said John always asks to sing the "head shoulders knees and toes" song, cuz they do it faster and faster, and John demonstrated, and had great fun trying to sing it as fast as he could. Hanna was fussy when we got home, like she often is. Maybe she's just making us pay for leaving her there for the day.
